How To Help Children And Youth With Low Grades
Without support this can escalate to even lower grades, less self-esteem, defeatism and depression. Low grades can create enormous and dangerous physical/emotional stress. They can be a sign that school programs are not appropriate. Low grades and low self-esteem may put children & youth at risk for gang participation, substance abuse, and other risky behaviors. Low grades can be caused by and complicated by a combination of: medical conditions; perceptual/learning/developmental challenges; nutritional imbalances; prolonged stress; family patterns; emotional and/or physical discomfort from physical trauma (especially head, neck, spine, pelvis) and/or abuses of all kinds; environmental pollutants; unresolved emotional difficulties; depression and other mental illness; loneliness; grief; over expectations or under expectations; substance abuse.
