Autism

How To Help Children And Youth Affected By Autism

Autistic Tendencies; Autism Spectrum Disorders; Pervasive Developmental Disorders; Asperger’s Syndrome; Rett’s Disorder; Non-verbal Learning Disabilities; Non-Verbal Disorders

Having even mild autism can be extremely difficult on everyone–especially the child or youth. Without support, families can burn out and disintegrate, causing many more burdens on the child or youth dealing with autism. Without support, children & youth with autistic tendencies or a full diagnosis of autism, suffer isolation and deepening confusion, which can make the symptoms even more severe. Some unaware children and youth and adults treat children & youth dealing with autism as weird, crazy, and sources of fear. This further affects the child or youth’s self-esteem, emotional control, social connection and communication skills. Autism may be due to a combination of: genetic factors; exposure to environmental pollutants; nutritional imbalances; viral or bacterial infection. The causal links between vaccinations, food and air containing mercury and autism remains controversial. One thing that is known is that the number of children & youth with autism and with associated challenges is increasing globally as is environmental pollution.
